- How is the dYdX trader ranking determined?
- From every account public on the dYdX chain we keep only those with at least $10K in account value and P&L changes in the period, and show the top 100 by return or P&L. To filter out accounts whose return is inflated because the balance was near zero right before a deposit, accounts with less than $5K of capital at the start of the period are excluded. Automated market-making vault accounts are also excluded, since this is a ranking of people.
- dYdX has no leaderboard — how was this built?
- Since dYdX offers no leaderboard, SatoshiNote computes it. We first scan every account's balances and positions on a public dYdX chain node to pick accounts above a size threshold, then fetch their hourly P&L records from dYdX's public indexer API and compute P&L and return over 24h, 7d, 30d and all time. We use only data the chain and indexer publish, never scraped screens.
- How often does the data update?
- The ranking is recomputed up to once an hour and each run takes one to two minutes. Each trader's positions and fills refresh about once a minute. The computation time is shown above the ranking table.
- How is return calculated?
- Period P&L is the difference between the indexer's cumulative P&L now and at the start of the period. Return divides that by account value at the start of the period plus net deposits during it, so balance growth from deposits is not counted as profit. All-time divides cumulative P&L since the account was opened by net deposits. Shorter periods swing with one or two trades, so look at 30d and all-time as well.
- Why do leverage and liquidation price look different from Hyperliquid?
- dYdX uses cross margin: the whole account shares margin and no leverage is set per position. So leverage is shown as total position size over account value, and liquidation price, which moves with other positions and prices, is not shown as a single value. Volume is not published per period by the indexer, so it is left out of the table.
- Can I put my own returns in the ranking?
- Yes. Sign in to SatoshiNote and connect an exchange API; if you agree to be listed, you appear by nickname in the 'SatoshiNote users' ranking, which only signed-in members can see. Manually entered records cannot be verified and are excluded; only trades synced automatically count.
- Should I copy the traders in this ranking?
- This screen organizes public records for information and is not investment advice. Many top traders use high leverage, so copying the same positions can get liquidated on a small price move, and past returns do not guarantee future results.
