- How is the Lighter trader ranking determined?
- From Lighter's public leaderboard we take the top 1,000 by P&L per period, keep only accounts with at least $100K in account value and trades in the period, and show the top 100 by return or P&L. To filter out accounts whose return is inflated because the balance was near zero right before a deposit, accounts whose capital at the start of the period (P&L divided by return) is below $50K are excluded.
- Where does the data come from and how often does it update?
- From Lighter's public REST API (leaderboard and account lookup). The ranking refreshes up to once an hour; the per-asset position aggregate re-fetches each ranked account once an hour. Positions and P&L history on a trader profile refresh about once a minute. We use only data the exchange publishes, never scraped screens.
- How do 24h, 7d, 30d and all-time returns differ?
- We use the P&L and return Lighter's leaderboard computes separately per period. 24h is the last day, 7d and 30d the last week and month, and all-time is cumulative since the account was opened. Shorter periods swing with one or two trades, so look at 30d and all-time as well.
- How is leverage calculated?
- Lighter publishes the initial margin fraction each account set per asset. Leverage is its inverse: a 2% initial margin fraction is 50x, 10% is 10x. Position return is unrealized P&L divided by margin (entry amount times that fraction).
- Why are there no fills?
- Lighter requires authentication to look up an account's fill history, so it cannot be fetched from the public API. Profiles therefore show current positions and P&L history only, and the recent fills table is left empty.
- Can I put my own returns in the ranking?
- Yes. Sign in to SatoshiNote and connect an exchange API; if you agree to be listed, you appear by nickname in the 'SatoshiNote users' ranking, which only signed-in members can see. Manually entered records cannot be verified and are excluded; only trades synced automatically count.
- Should I copy the traders in this ranking?
- This screen organizes public records for information and is not investment advice. Many top traders use high leverage, so copying the same positions can get liquidated on a small price move, and past returns do not guarantee future results.
